Frequently asked questions

Is Kempt safe to use?
Yes. Kempt only moves files; it does not delete them. Recent operations can be undone, and the app includes safeguards to reduce the risk of unwanted changes.
Does Kempt work with cloud storage?
Yes. Kempt can organize folders that live in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, and similar services, as long as those folders are available locally on your Mac.
What if I organize the wrong folder?
Use Undo as soon as you can after the operation. Kempt records file movements so you can reverse a run when Undo is still available.
Can I organize system folders?
It is possible in some setups, but we do not recommend organizing macOS system locations. Prefer your own folders such as Documents, Downloads, or Desktop.
How much disk space do I need?
Kempt moves files rather than copying them, so you typically do not need a large amount of extra free space. Keeping some free space on the volume (for example 10–20%) is still good practice.
Can I organize multiple folders at once?
Kempt organizes one folder per action. You can use scheduled tasks to automate different folders on their own timetables.
